History

Built on what had been the Graham family’s dairy farm, designed by Bill Watts, and opened in 1962 as "The Senator" Course — named for Bob Graham, later Florida governor and U.S. Senator, whose family owned the land.

NFL coach Don Shula, the league’s winningest coach (328 regular-season wins, the only perfect 17-0 season with the 1972 Miami Dolphins, six Super Bowl appearances, two wins), lived near the 16th tee, and the club carried his name for decades.

Renovated in 1998 by architect Kipp Schulties. The property rebranded away from the Shula name in January 2022 as part of a wider hotel/club rebrand by its owner, Graham Hospitality.
