History
Designed by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin for Miami-Dade County; construction began in 1970 and the course opened in September 1972 (originally 7,020 yards, par 71). It was briefly renamed "The Links at Key Biscayne" around 1988.
Hurricane Andrew badly damaged the course in August 1992; a $1.5 million renovation by von Hagge and Kelly Blake Moran rebuilt the greens and bunkers in 1992–93.
Hosted the Senior PGA Tour Championship for 18 years, drawing players including Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Raymond Floyd, and Gary Player. Golfweek and Golf Digest have both ranked it among the top public/upscale courses in the country.
A $5 million revitalization of tees, bunkers, greens, cart paths, and irrigation began in May 2024, with a grand reopening on January 27, 2025.
